When period instruments meet today.
APOTHEOSIS, directed by Korneel Bernolet, is a period instrument collective based in Belgium,
formed by some of the finest early-music-specialists around. The choice and quest for performances on the very instruments the composers knew and wrote for, is a statement that guarantees an insight in how audiences heard that music for the first time. Ensemble Apotheosis, performing chamber music conducted from the harpsichord or pianoforte, and Apotheosis Orchestra, ranging from a larger baroque formation to a full-scale symphonic orchestra: combining a knowledge and international performance practice experience with today's expectations for concerts that sound both fresh or immediate ànd respectful towards the music itself. Musicological research is merely a starting point -- musical experimentation is the key tool. No-nonsense.
